Pulled Pork time and Guru question

I am planning to do a pulled pork for my daughters birthday on Saturday. The shoulder is 8.5 lbs and I would like to know an approx. time frame for cooking it. I also plan to make some ABT's and a few other goodies so I would need the pork to be done I guess by noon on Sat. so I can put it in the cooler until we are ready to eat. My other question is do you need to cover the guru fan while it is raining. I am planning to put some type of protection over it, as rain is in the forecast for Friday night. I know that the electronics need to be covered I just would like to know what lengths do I need to go to in order to protect the pit viper.
Everyday is Saturday and tomorrow is always Sunday.

Retired RailRoader, plan on 2 hours a pound at 225 degrees. 17 hours means you should get started about 7PM for a noon take-off. It could be done a bit earlier but you can always wrap in foil and then wrap in a towel and place in a warmer (that's a cooler where you put something warm in it rather than something cool). Not sure about the guru but I think I would try to protect it from rain.

  • Retired RailRoader,
I put my guru in a plastic bag.
