DFMT - re-paint or re-season?

I left my DFMT inside my large BGE while doing a nuclear burn to get rid of a summer's worth of crud that had built up on the inside of the Egg. Now my DFMT looks like I've either burned off the paint of the seasoning, I can't tell which. Its a dull white/gray color and has a chalky finish. I've rinsed what little crud was left on it off ad am drying it in my oven. After that should I re-season it like cast iron cookware, or repaint it with grill paint?
TIA,
Dave

DFMT?

PhotoPro: DFMT = dual function metal top.
Dave I left mine inside the egg for a high temp cleaning. When I took it out it sure was clean, then with in a couple of days, orange. I just rubbed it down with some crisco and it was fine for at least a year.

I have done both and both work fine. Just make sure you get the high heat paint. If you are going to season I have found flax seed oil works the best but is expensive.

Re-season.

Re-season, treat it like all other cast iron cookware!

Eggers Prayer-
Our egg, which art in sizes, hallowed be thy smoke, thy will be grilled, at home as it is at eggfest. Give us this clay our daily brisket and forgive us our rubs, as we forgive those who gas grill against us, and lead us not to flashback but deliver us from overnighters. For thine is the grill, the smoke, the egg. Let's eat!

I would not recommend painting it. Just re-season it.

Since we do not cook on the DFMT, what is the point of seasoning? Man, I wish I'd had my preferences set so that I got an email when folks responded. I have fixed that.
Thanks for the recommendations. I ended up painting it and I think it came out pretty well:

@4Runner - yes, the top was rusty when I burned the crap off and it needed something to protect it.
I'll probably slap another coat on before the snow flies.
Thanks for the feedback!
