Stainless steel table recommendation for our first two eggs

Hello all, we just picked up a Large and Medium Green egg a couple days ago and have been going back and forth with many hours of reading on tables materials etc.. to come to the conclusion that we want to go the route of stainless steel but are having a difficult time finding many options and wanted to know if you have any suggestions for places to look. I am ok with getting two units but would prefer for one to house both at the same time like the one at Big Green Egg Chicago. It has to be made in America which is what kept us from buying an egg for so many months to begin with but we just kept coming back to them and plus we got a pretty good deal on the brand new ones to boot. I have the tools and skills to build my own out of wood but I am tired of fighting the elements with outdoor items no matter if it is cypress, white oak, teak, etc.....it is just one more thing to add to the list to maintain. Any leads...Thanks

Where are you located? Might be worth looking through some of the pics on naked whiz's site and contact the people individually. I've seem some eggers who have found custom fabricators to do SS tables for them and they looked amazing.
Good luck.

I am in CO and have been calling around town to the local fabricators with little promise as it is either too expensive for what it is or they are not interested in the work ( find that hard to believe in this economy) and the one that I found in Chicago that was perfect would be 850.00 for shipping YIKES.

TDog,
Send me an email at mrbowhunr@cox.net and I will send you the information on the company that built mine. They are in Hannibal, MO and truck freight to Omaha was around $70.00. They build several different configurations, including a lg/md style.

On its way, thanks a bunch!

Have you checked out the offerings from Southern Specialties Outdoor?
They've got wonderful, made in the USA tables. We just used ours for the first time at a kcbs contest this weekend....solid as a rock and has wonderful functionality.
If I can help more, just send me a PM! -
Wow!! I just looked at the Southern Specialties site. Nice tables, but waaaaaay overpriced. I bought my 304 stainless table last year for less than half the cost of theirs.MikeOmaha, NE

The Southern has a 26 page assembly as well. Get a freight quote also, they over charge on that also. Gauge is lighter also.

I got this one from a local restuarant supply company for less than 150.00. I cut the hole in the top and reinforced the lower shelf with three aluminium channels from the underside. All in all less than 200.00 for a nice stainless table. Mine is 30 x 60". Actual photo coming soonIn Maryland

Stainless steel is not maintenance free regardless as to whether it is 304. It can develope surface rust and pitting. Easier to maintain than wood though.

Bowhunr/Mike,can you post the info here for everyone to investigate?

I would be glad to but wouldn't the forum consider that as advertising? I thought that was against the forum rules.MikeOmaha, NE

Does that owl keep the woodies away? Nice table Mike!

Well look who's here. The owl mainly keeps the doves from leaving their little gifts all over the deck and everything on it.MikeOmaha, NE

For what its worth, I bought a table at a restaurant supply store and cut the hole in it myself. Used the stainless racking and a concrete paver to make up the base. It came with wheels and is by far much stronger than I could have ever made out of wood. Look on craigslist and such places, with this economy, restaurants and coffee shops are coming and going all the time. They are not totally maintenance free, but even neglected, will outlast a wood table any day.

@ SNORK - What did you use to cut the whole in the stainless?BakerMan - Purcellville, VA "When its smokin' its cookin', when its black its done"

I used a die grinder with a carbide bit. I fastened it to a board, and used the board like a compass. I measured how big a hole I wanted, divide by two, and that is the radius for the circle. Bolt to table top, and cut away. I will try to upload photos later. Simple table, but rolls around deck easily.

Tdog after 5 years with the 3 eggs I found I did not want them tied down to a table. I like the nests with handles best. Sams has this table for a little over $100 and will get another. This way I feel in control not the table holding the egg.Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now).

I picked up my new table from Tim last weekend. It's awesome! Guys (and girls) this guy is a class act, and builds a GREAT product! He is easy to work with, and will bend over backward to accommodate you. If you want something special, ask him and he'll work with you to get it done. Tim, it was great meeting you, and thank you for a wonderful product!

And as an added bit of info, if you buy the same table I did (Large Egg), when the side tables are folded down, the cover for the XL Egg fits perfectly over the entire assembly. I will try to post a picture this evening.

Very nice Fly310!! I agree, Tim and his guys do a great job on their tables.Mike

I also purchased a table from Tim at Mid-America - it arrived last week, just a couple days before my egg was delivered. The table is awesome! So is the egg! Tim is great to work with and I have no buyer's remorse whatsoever. Granted, things were not cheap, but the end result is a unique, high end product that will see years and years of use.

Tim has mine on order. I'll post when it arrives.
