ELDER WARD Rub Question

Unknown
edited November -0001 in EggHead Forum
Hi,
The EW recipe calls for "mixing spices in a food processor" (or something like that).
Does anyone actually do this?
Is it neccessary?
I mixed up a batch and had it in a cuisinart food chopper thing - one blade that spun around in there - didn't seem to do much good. I don't have any other type of grinder.[p]Any suggestions?
Thanks and have a nice day!

    ELDER WARD Rub Question,
The reasoning for this is that it will break up any clumps that may be in the mix. Also, it grinds down the dry herbs, thus releasing the oils they contain. Anytime I use dried herbs, at a minimum, I'll put them in the pestal to release their oils.
That's my .02, but I'm getting pretty used to being wrong.

    ELDER WARD Rub Question,
When grinding spice, it is better to use a coffee grinder. I have two, one of just coffee and one for just spices. Somehow the conecpt of BBQ Coffee does not appeal to me.[p]It takes two or three grinding batches for one recipe of EW Rub.[p]Hope this helps,
