How do you put four butts on at onr time? Do you stack them two on top of two or do you place them all on the rack with the bone running up and down? If anyone has any pictures of placement I would love to see them.[p]Larry

    smoke signal,
I had room for 3 laying down and 1 with bone sticking up but all 4 fit with indirect setup.

    smoke signal,
I set up indirect with the drip pan under the main grid resting on the inverted plate setter. Place two butts on the main grid (left & right), put in the grid extender and place two more butts on it (top & bottom). What I end up with is an East West configuration on the grid and a North South configuration on the grid extender. Think plus sign + HTH. Joe

<p />smoke signal,[p]I cook 4 large butts often in my large Egg in my contraption. The picture was taken before I had added my drip pan on the lower grid. This setup works great for heavy loads and can be setup in your kitchen and then carried out in one piece and dropped into the cooker when it is ready.[p]Dave

    Smokin Joe,
Did it this way last weekend for 4 butts. Worked just fine.

Morning Mark Backer:[p]Total weight was about 25 pounds, all were 6 to 6.5 pounds each. I put them on at midnight Saturday and took the first off at about 3:00pm Sunday afternoon. The last one came off at about 4:20pm (I had to leave to pickup my wife at a church retreat or the last one would have stayed on longer). The last one could/should have gone longer, but I knew I wouldn't be home until about 8:00pm and I knew that was toooooo long. All were wrapped in foil, put in a styrofoam cooler and then pulled when we got home Sunday evening.[p]Prior to putting the butts on I had done 3 slabs of babybacks (on at 6:30pm Saturday, off at 11:30pm).[p]P4300003.jpg[p]I forgot to take some pics of the finished ribs (too busy getting the butts on).[p]Have a GREAT day!

    SSN686,
Exactly! I'm still photo-ly challanged... LOL I need to come out of the dark ages and get a digital camera. But, let's see... I want to add the small egg... Hmmmm... decisions - decisions... Joe[p]Thanks for the pix!

  • Old Dave,
Do you have a showing it in the egg?

  • bk,[p]Yes sir, I think I do and will find some pictures and post them later. Might be kinda hard to see the lower level but maybe I can find a picture that does show both levels. [p]Dave

  • bk,[p]I usually don't try to get too many pictures of my large cooks on the Egg but I did find one where I think you can see the lower two butts in the cooker. This is a different cook than the first picture and I hope you can make it out. [p]10MVC-010E.jpg[p]I will include another picture of 6 slabs of ribs done in two layers in the cooker on my contraption. [p]4ribsbge1Mvc-010e.jpg[p]Hope this helps and if you have any questions, e-mail me.[p]Dave

    Old Dave,
Could you explain the construction of your 'contraption'? I've see it in several of your posts and looks like a very worthwile accessory.
    Cheers, Bob

    bobbyb,
I second that request and would be very grateful for the design.

  • Morning Bob,[p]You have more mail than you could imagine with pictures explaining my "Contraption" and its use.[p]Dave

  • Morning Larry,[p]Was nice talking to you yesterday and I have sent the information you requested for the large Egg. I will also send the information for the small later in the day.[p]Hope it helps,[p]Dave

  • Wahooegger,[p]You don't have mail as I wouldn't know where to send it.[p]Dave
