Im building a egg table and couldn't find a piece of slate. [p]For anyone looking to build one, here is how I lucked out. I went over to a place that cuts granite counters and the had tons of scrap cutouts and remenants. I got beautiful pieces (range cutouts) for free and paid them $25 ( and some pulled pork) to cut 18x18 and 18x24 and take off sharp edges. rub the edges with olive oil. Its not finished like my counter but what the heck.[p]

benny, one thing to do, and maybe they told you. You need to apply a granite silicone sealer every 6 months to keep any water from seeping into the top. also use only Granite and marble cleaner's.
Nice idea for the top. Thats better than the $100sqr foot I paid for my kitchen counter.
