cleaning accumlated grease

Unknown
edited November -0001 in EggHead Forum
Have owned for 6 years.Exceptional product!
Always close lid and vent after cooking. Have accumulated grease on ring above fire box.Have scraped off.Have tried 'burning' off at sustained hot temp. Some times residual grease adds unwanted flavor. Was wondering if there is a recommended method of "de-greasing"
Thanks
EFD

    Ed Driscoll,
Load that puppy up with a full load and open the bottom vent all the way and leave off the chimney cap. Let it go (after lighting) until it won't go anymore. Should be clean as a whistle.

    Ed Driscoll,
I would not use any "degreaser" products other than good old fashioned elbow grease. I often use the volcano mode to try to clean it up. Sometimes is is a while between cooks for me and I have mold to get rid of. When I am in a hurry I use a propane burner to burn off the mold and any flakey grease like residue. When I am on top of it and plan a day ahead the volcano trick is easiest.[p]Dennis
