Looking for a great recipe. Did a quick search here and only found traces. Anyone master this on the mighty egg?

I can taste the garlic and onions now!

Here are my recipies, addapt them to the egg as you see fit. The broth is great for red beans or onion soup.

Vaca frita follow the recipe for Ropa Vieja, is basically the same, except the shreaded flank steak is fried with onions (the amount of onions depends on your taste).

    Ropa Vieja (Old Clothes)

    Make some Sofrito

    One flank steak, cleaned.
    Cooking oil
Brown on both sides on skillet

    Place on pressure cooker
    Cover with water

Cook until very tender, (You have to know your stove and pressure cooker).

Remove flank steak, let cool, clean and pull apart

Place shredded meat in the sauce
Simmer until the rice is cooked (real rice not minute rice)

The meat and the sauce should be just right when the rice is cooked.
    Serve over white/brown rice

    Thanks QPete!

It looks like I need a pressure cooker.

Has anyone adapted this to Egging with any success?

You don't have to use a preassure cooker, a slow cooker will work, it just takes longer or use a dutch oven on the Egg at low temp till beef is done.

I would also add onions garlic, bell pepers, bay leaf, pepper corns to the cooking liquid.

Then you can use the broth and add red beans and seasonings (ham , potatoes, chorizo, garlic, onions etc).

Use a cast iron skillet on the Egg to fry the shreaded beef and onions.

After beef is fried well squeeze fresh lemon over it.

This is old country Cuban, there are other ways to prepare this, using skirt steak, that will probably would work better on the egg.
