To start things off for the 4th of July weekend, I forget to put the charcoal grate back on. This was okay, food still came out good and luckily with no damage to my Egg.

Yesterday though, I went to set up my egg for a high temp cook and my gasket melted off. I did follow instructions on ensuring that I did several lower temp cooks first before attempting to run a high temp.

Luckily, I called Green Egg Customer service and they will be sending me a new gasket:)

Anyone else have their gasket melt off so quickly?

My gasket only made it about 3 moths. I suspect that my dome was not properly aligned with the base.

I replaced mine with a nomex gasket from http://www.high-que.com/

Then made sure I properly aligned my dome when I put it back together.

I did a couple hi-temp cooks for steaks with no problem, but the gaskets were toast with my first pizza; obviously the large disk directed all the heat towards the gasket, hence the frying.
I bought a couple tubes of the Permatex hi-temp copper goup, will be in Phillie the rest of the week but will try making a hi-temp gasket when I get home.
