Costco imitator
E-ville Egg
Posts: 100
As I walked through Costco today I spotted a BGE imitator made by Vision by their outdoor stuff. Cost was $550 which included a nest with side tables, cover, SS grate and grate extender. Of course I had to play with it. I really did not like the hinge. Also the fire box/ring was all one part and seemed too shallow. Just thought I'd share incase anyone out there was looking for an economy kamado grill.
sorry about the pic quality on this one.
I did like the SS grates. you could swing up the sides of the main grate to add more charcoal if you needed it. I've never had this problem myself but have yet to do a 24 hour cook. I doubt that I'd need to though by reading others posts here.
Happy Egging all,
Brett

Did you ask about the warranty?
Spring "My Eggs Will Out Live Me" Chicken

I did not. I was on a mission for brisket and prime ribeye, both of which were on sale today. picked up a packer for 1.79/lb and a USDA Prime rib for 8.99/lb

Grid would be cool for adding chunks after fire is established.

I do like the looks of that stainless steel stand, though...BJ (Powhatan, VA)

I like all the stainless steel. Lifetime warranty or go home tho.

This is Costco we are talking about. Everything (except TVs, PCs, iPods...) has a lifetime warranty. The warranty is only limited by how guilty you feel trying to return it for a full refund.
However, it will mean that after X years you'll simply get your money back instead of a replacement part. Then if they don't stock this at that time, which is very likely, you will not be able to buy a replacement from them. -

There are other good Kamado style cookers (Primo, Kamado Joe) but THIS is not one of them. -
How do you know? Is that forum about vision grills?
http://www.visiongrills.com/AboutKamado.html
All modern kamados are imitators, including the big green egg. We need to get over thinking that kamados are all bge imitators. That grill looks more like a kamado joe than an bge anyway. There are plenty of brands out there, and they all have 'my grill is best' mentality followers.
Chevys and Fords ....
Edit: looking through the manual has be less than impressed, I may have spoke too soon. Although I think there are other competitors offering good products, this just isn't one of them. -
1 year, kinda sucks.

My BGE has thee best warranty, for real!
