in a large egg, how high a temp can you achieve and hold?[p]also, in a large how much fuel do you burn on butts or briskets at 225-250?[p]I like sleeping and like the idea of an all nighter... I have a homeade good one type clone that I can go 7 hours without touching or fueling. but, man if you can get 11 hours with an egg and a guru...
Im ready[p]

    benny,
In the large you should be able to get up around 1000 degrees and keep it there quite a while. I've never tried to see how long. (I am assuming you mean without a BBQ Guru attached. The Guru only goes up to 400.)[p]As for how long on a low and slow cook, a large egg filled up with lump will go at least 30 hours. I've done 20 hour cooks and had 30-40% of the lump left.[p]TNW

    benny,
By no means am I the expert on the matter..but I bought my large about 3 weeks ago and have since cooked pork loins, spatchcocked chicken, red snapper, catfish, bone less skinless chicken breasts, steaks, and an assortment of veggies and I still have a couple pounds left out of my first bag of BGE lump. I havent done any long burns yet but I would guess the large would hold around 5-7 lbs of lump.

    benny,
It depends on the brand. Cowboy is not very dense. Wicked Good Charcoal is very dense. However, I think I recall that 8 pounds of Royal Oak/Real Flavor/BGE lump will fill the large. The reason I think I recall this is I think I used a new 10lb bag and had a small amount left over in the bag after loading the large.
