Soaking Corned Beef?

Unknown
edited November -0001 in EggHead Forum
How long should I soak a corned beef in order to reduce the salty taste? The last time I made one it was very salty tasting. What will boiling do to the corned beef and is it worth it?

  • Hudsonjm,[p]I do it a minimum of 4 hours... Changing the water twice during that period...

    Hudsonjm,
Most folks have mentioned 6-24 hours with at least 3 changes of water. I just put one in for about 10-12 hours and will change the water three times. Boiled is an acceptable - but less than Egg quality - way of cooking corned beef: deli style and Irish corned-beef and cabbage style. Enjoy!
