Rain cover necessary?

So I just built a table (yay!). But this mean that the egg is going to get rained on all winter (boo!). Is this going to be an issue? Should I build some sort of roof or rain cover for the table?

To clarify, I'm less worried about being able to grill in the rain, and more wondering about rust on the straps, ice inside, etc.

Compared to that, I guess a little rain isn't a big deal. Interesting.

I am not as extreme as fishless, but I am on the Florida Gulf coast, lots of rain and salt air, I don't cover mine. I used to, but I found when I did they got mold inside, so I quit. Eggs are all fine. :)

Here's what happens when you forget to close the dome before a blizzard. The orange thing is a bag of Royal Oak lump. Was gonna cook the night before, opened the dome, added lump, went back in the house and decided not to egg that night. Forgot I left the dome open til I was shoveling my way out from under 24" the next day. No worries - I just shoveled it out of the egg. Was even able to use the lump... eventually.

Almost two years now, no cover, no problems.

I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

SAVAGES! :) Even a bag of lump???! I always cover my egg, but that's mainly to keep it out of eyesite from roaming crackheads and hobos (it's locked too). Your steel bands will rust eventually, not sure how long it will take, probably one of those actual milage may vary type things. The benefit of rusted bands is BGE will likely have an even better hing set-up by the time you need a new one.
