Haba beans - Went looking for butter beans but HEB didn't have any. Decided to try something new - haba beans
Beans, onions, garlic, and pork bits from the freezer
Browning the pork
Seasoning in
Beans in - after coming to a boil, reduced to low heat, covered and cooked for five hours - beans fell apart
Spinach, garlic, pecans, bacon, red onion, blue cheese
Cedar planked the spinach
Plank was smokin - gave a nice flavor to the spinach
This is what happens when you put a plank in at 750 dome
Made a sauce for the scallops - 4 oz tequila, 4 oz cointreau, zest and juice of an orange, 1/4 cup brown sugar. Reduced to 1/4 cup - nice

The spinach was outstanding Kari - the scorched plank gave it an extra kick

You da man LS - I was wondering what to do with the left over sauce. Got a couple duck breast in the freezer - it will go really well with duck.

Thanks Blair. A first with the haba beans - not sure if they are intended to be cooked so long, but they were nice.

Tequila & Cointreau sound like love & marriage.... They go together like horse & carriage  maravilloso Frank. Must say I fell for the planked spinach

Morning Franklyn. Still alive and still working straights. Man that looks great. Especially the spinich and scallops. Never seen spinich done up like that but if its got bacon in it, its got to be good! Ever tryed the scallop glaze over rice? Sounds kind of good lightly drizzled over basamic!
-
Dean - Not sure about rice but would be good on vanilla ice cream or grits

That sounds and looks delicious, Frank. I love the idea of cooking the spinach on the plank. Fantastic! Scallops and sauce look awesome as well.Happily egging on my original large BGE since 1996... now the owner of 5 eggs. Call me crazy, everyone else does!
