Memorial Day Weekend

I had an amazing Memorial Weekend Sunday spent with family, food and Egg! I started off by putting two 6.5lbs pork butts on the egg at 1 am Sunday morning. My wife made fun of me for the setup but I don't care...DSC08026.jpgYes, that is an "Egghead" hat turned backwards with a headlamp! Very effective!DSC08029.jpg Two butts...both recipes from Third Eye...one with mustard and one without but both had Bad Byron's Butt Rub...225 degree dome temp overnight and checked them in the morning..DSC08030.jpg Warmed up the Egg to 250 and let it go for while before putting on BB ribs. Car Wash Mike's method except Byron's instead of Dizzy Dust..DSC08032.jpgPulled everything off at 7PM and boy it looked good!DSC08035.jpg Ribs could have used a little bit more time as the meat didn't pull back as I was expecting but damn they were good! Great Bark on Butts They shredded great. Although they both were good I am in the mustard camp as the bark on that one was better..IMG_1595.jpgIMG_1599.jpg The family love all of it...Served the Butts and Ribs with Jalapeno corn bread, baked beans, fried okra, cole slaw, and potato salad. Homemade strawberry shortcakes served for dessert! I would say that this was the perfect day and I own a bunch to some guys in the forum. Thirdeye, Car Wash Mike, and Grandpa Grub gave great tips and recipes to made my maiden voyage of slow cooking a success! Happy Memorial Day!
