FIRE BRICKS AND DRIP PANS ???

Unknown
edited November -0001 in EggHead Forum
Someone please help out a rookie. I am following a recipe in the "Cookbook for Eggheads Special Eggtoberfest Edition" for beef jerky. It mentions using firebricks and a drip pan. I own a PlateSetter (EGGsettera), is this the same as firebrick? Also, what should you use for a drip pan? Help me out :)

Jay Wright,[p]here is a link to a post lower down on how i do jerky. if you are a little creative you may come up with something at hand but it will give you some ideas. you don't have to hang it but it does dry the jerky much faster on much more even with a lot less hassle than mounding it.HTH[p]Scott

Jay Wright, your platesetter will do just fine. Just put it on the firering with the feet pointed up. Use an aluminum pan (buy a disposable one at the store) as your drip pan by placing it on the platesetter and then place your grill on top of that. You should be set to go then.

    Wise One,
Buy lots of the disposable pans (13 x 9 work well in the large). Ran out of them on day and "borrowed" a pan from the wife when she wasn't looking. That cost me dinner, movie and flowers....
