So I got the advice that if i double wrapped my butts after a cook and tossed them in a towel filled cooler I would be good to transport them.
Turns out what I thought was going to be about 3 hours until eating turned into about 5. When I pulled the butts out of the cooler they were still hot (not warm...hot). I think they could have went 7 or 8 and still been perfect.
Good to know for future cooks.
