I am trying to make a good vinegar based BBQ sauce for pulled pork -- my favorite is at Fresh Air BBQ in Jackson/Macon, GA -- anyone got any good suggestions?

    NeedTaKnow,
try one of these, they are from the Elder Ward pulled pork section in the Recipies tab.[p](A)The Traditional North Carolina Sauce I grew up with.
This would be from my mothers side of the family who are a bunch of flatlanders near the coast. We only came down out of the hills to see them just enough to keep the peace in the family and my mother from running back home for good. She hated the mountains. We all loved her folks.[p]· 1 C white vinegar
    · 1 C cider vinegar
    · 1 Tbs. sugar (Hawaii style when you can)
    · 1 Tbs. cayenne pepper (fresh ones split 2 of em instead soak 2 days or more is best)
    · 1 Tbs. Tabasco sauce
    · 1 tsp. kosher salt
    · 1 tsp. cracked black pepper
Makes 2 Cups[p]Place in a bottle with small neck that will allow you to shake it out a little at a time.[p](B)Western North Carolina (Piedmont) style sauce
    · 1 C ketchup (Hot type)
    · 1 C water (bottled plain if you have fluorinated/treated) yuck:~(
    · ¼ C apple cider vinegar
    · 1 onion chopped fine
    · 3 cloves crushed garlic or 1 clove elephant garlic from Gilroy, CA
    · 2 Tbs. brown sugar
    · 2 Tbs. molasses (How can y'all have Mo lasses if you ain't had lasses da furst time?)
    · 2 Tbs. dry mustard (Coleman's English double fine is good)
    · 1 tsp.. cayenne or one fresh cut into ringlets seeds and all.
Simmer for twenty minutes over low heat.

Crab leg, re:the Quarter Deck Lounge in Key Colony Beach (Marathon). Map and Internet directions were useless on the way down...tried twice and still couldn't find it. Coming back to the mainland we finally found it. However, on a Saturday, in the middle of tourist season, at 11:00 AM, a sign proudly announced "Closed Today". Okay, nuff said about that. Mebbe another time ;)[p]

i like a 50/50 mixture of wdans mojo sauce mixed with elder wards vinegar sauce. makes a good vinegar sauce and if you mix it with some yogurt and mayo, it makes a good dip for hot wings. dip wings into texas pete, then into yogurt sauce[p] WDAN MOJO SAUCE

    12 cloves garlic (sliced thin)
    1 cup fresh lime juice
    1/3 cup orange juice

    Rumrunner,
You didn't really miss that much. They have good shrimp, but who doesn't. Just thought the egg might be in use and you could get a little taste.

NeedTaKnow,[p]This is a Vinegar based sauce for Pulled Pork. It's been a winner every time I've served it.[p]Ingredients:
    • 1 Cup cider vinegar
    • 2 Tbs Sea Salt
    • 1 Tbs Turbinado Sugar
    • ½ tsp Ground Chipotle - McCormicks
    • 4 Dried Cayenne peppers, split & stemmed[p]Preparation Directions:
    • Mix all ingredients together. Let stand as long as possible, at least ½ a day, but the longer the better. It's best used in plastic "Ketchup Style" squirt bottle you can pickup at the grocery store for about a buck. [p]Cheers,[p]GrillMeister

NeedTaKnow,[p]Here's the all-time favorite around our house.[p]I blend all of the ingredients before simmering. Otherwise, you may have a few lumps.[p]32 oz. Ketchup

1/4 cup Molasses (I usually use a little less)
    1/2 cup Water
    1 Tsbn. Liquid Smoke (hickory)
    3/4 cup Brown Sugar
    1.25 oz. package Chili Seasoning
    1/4 tsp. Ground Mace
    1/4 tsp. Cayenne Pepper
    1/2 tsp. Allspice
    1 tsp. Ground Ginger
2 tsp. Dry Mustard[p]Simmer for about half an hour.
