crock pot or oven settings/times for reheating PP?

All -

My 9.75lb butt that went on at 10pm was done around 9am this morning. So I wrapped it in foil and it is hanging in the cooler for a few hours. I am not serving til 5pm, so I need a reheat method. I will be pulling the pork around 12 or 1pm, and then storing in the refrigerator until I need to warm up.

Two options after looking thru the forum:

1) Crock pot with a mix of coke and chicken broth - my question here, crock pot on high or low, and roughly how long? 30 mins? 60 mins?

2) put it into a pan (I have some large pyrex that may work with foil to cover) and reheat in the over at about 170 degrees? Could I add the coke and chicken broth here too? How long in the oven at approx 170 degrees?

With several other dishes needed to be served, just trying to balance everything to get things on the table by about 5pm.

Thanks for the help!

    If doing the crock pot and the time allows, pre-heat the liquid on high hour or so and then when you place the pp in drop to low or simmer.

    easy enough!

    Older posts suggested about 12oz per 6 lbs? Is that based on pre cooked or post cooked weight? I started with 9.75 lbs but know I lost 30-40% of the weight. I want to mix half with chicken stock and half with coke, so maybe about 6 oz of each?

    So put 6 oz of both liquids on high in the crock pot for 1 hour, then how long on simmer should the pulled pork sit before it is ready to serve?

    Try this:

    Byrdo’s HOW MUCH MEAT
    HOW MUCH MEAT?
    For pulled pork, a typical sandwich (or serving) is 4 oz of cooked meat. For adult males, you might want to plan on 2 sandwiches per person. For women and children, plan on one sandwich per person. The average butt loses about 40% of its weight while cooking. So, to get 6 pounds of cooked pork (24 sandwiches) you would need to start with 10 pounds of butt (2.4 servings per LB of uncooked meat). So a simple little formula is all you need:

    Number of men (men or large eaters)= M
    Number of women and children (lighter eaters)= W
    Pounds of Butt to buy = B
    B=(2M+W)/2.4
    So if there 5 men and 5 women,
    B=(2*5+5)/2.4 =15/2.4 = 6.25 Pounds

    thanks for the math to compute sandwiches per person. I am fairly confident I have enough since we have burgers, chicken and sides too.

    The question is more geared towards the settings/temperatures and length of time needed to reheat the pork.

    Guests are coming at 4, dinner at 5. So maybe if I go crock pot, I need to warm the liquid from 3-4pm on high and then simmer from 4-5pm?

    I just don't want to dry it out.

    things worked out well. did high heat on a mix of coke and apple juice for 45 mins. then put in the pork for about 75 - 90 minutes on low heat. mixed every so often, no one knew the difference.

    14 people, and most of what started out as a 9.75lb butt is all gone. maybe 1-2 sandwiches for leftovers, that's it.
