How to cook a fresh ham
Comments
-
JoJo,
Treat it just like a loin roast. Put on your favorite rub and cook it indirect at about 350 dome temp over your favorite wood chips or chunks until internal meat temp hits 145-150. Let it rest for 15-20 minutes then slice. Enjoy!

First of all as you may or may not be aware, a fresh ham is nothing like a cured and/or smoked ham. So, if you are expecting it to taste like "ham", it won't. I sometimes use fresh for pulled pork if I'm a feeding folks that are particular about fatty meats. The ham is much leaner than the shoulder, which is the most common cut for BBQ. All that being said, you have a couple choices. If you want roast pork, cook it to an internal temp of 165°-170° for a sliceable product. If you want to pull it, cook it like you would a butt and take the temp to ~190°. Good luck and let us know how it turns out![p]Jim
