On a cold egg, try grease lighting. For really bad stains, use denatured alcohol and rub like hell. You must master temp, smoke, and time to achive moisture, taste, and texture! Visit www.bubbatim.com for BRISKET HELP

Welcome, Jan. I've read here that some folks use Simple Green. Me? I use rain.
I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

Easy Off oven cleaner, water, scrubbing!

Simple Green worked great for me. Good luck.
-
For most of the outside I've used just a dilute solution of whatever dish detergent I have on hand. For the gunk that gathers under the daisy wheel, same detergent straight, smeared around, and wipe off after 10 minutes. repeat if needed.
-
When the egg is really hot to burn off gunk on the inside, I get a bucket of water and a thick towel, and just wipe the egg down. It just steams everything off.
-
Water on a hot egg seems like a bad idea, kinda like hot water on a cold windshield.
-
Yep, that's why I never use my egg when it rains or snows. It's a dry weather only device.
-
Say what? The only problem with using the egg in rain, snow or cold is that the cook gets wet and/or cold. The egg couldn't care less.

first things first... do you keep the daisy in the egg after coking? that will render off all the free grease from sooty/fatty smoke. then, the daisy won't ave anything to drip during the next cook.
i've wiped the egg with a pad of wet paper towels, most often when i get that foamy brown stuff oozing out of the crazing when the egg gets hot. there's no issue about the thermal difference.not yet, anyway
i used to wash it (stubborn stains) with a little bar keeper's friend (like Bon Ami). but i've simply gone over to just wiping it with a damp cloth when hot/warmed egli avea del cul fatto trombetta -Dante -
