I've been invited to attend the 2011 National Restaurant Association trade show in Chicago being held at McCormick Place May 21 - 24. Anybody else going? I'm excited!

I went to it last week in Pittsburgh. Time travel, I guess.
-
come on now, guys...Illinois is one of the two last states which don't allow concealed carry! With 48 other states to choose from do you really think the National Rifle Assoc is going to hold squat doodle in Chicago? :laugh:Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time!

different NRA - the one I'm talking about has to do with eating food - not hunting food! :laugh:Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time!

me three!!!

good point

I went to that show many years ago, its quite impressive. Three floors of national mgf of food and non food products. Bring a healthy appetite.

Thanks Jerry - I thought I was going to drown here! Supposedly this show will be the biggest and best ever. I'll be wearing comfortable shoes to hoof around and pants that I can be let out when I get stuffed!Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time!

Does it allow open carry?
-
no - concealed carry has long been fought against by Chicago politicians. This month it looked like it was finally going to be passed - although our d/s governor stood steadfast saying he would veto it. Well, it got voted down again by a slim margin so ol' d/s didn't have to flex his muscles.Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time!

Sounds like a good house cleaning is in order...starting with the governor.
-
LOL I was thinking what? IL with their gun laws, you must be joking.Egging on two larges + 36" Blackstone griddle
-
true - but I'm sad to reply again with "This is ILLINOIS!!!" This state has long been dominated by Chicago mentality that puts crook after crook into the governor's seat. Illinois has a sad record for the number of former governors who have gone to federal prison! It's a revolving door - very sad one indeed!Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time!
-
Yet the out going mayor wants armed guards 24/7 because he is scared!! Believe it or not.
-
What you say is true! There is so much corruption in Illinois politics - it's a way of life - the way they play the game! Our recently impeached governor - ol' Blow Dry Blagojevich is being re-tried right now on a number of federal charges including that he was trying to sell B.O. seat to the highest bidder.Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time!

I have a grandfather who was born in Illinois who always had a bumber sticker on his truck. It read, "You can have my gun when you pry it from my cold dead fingers"
Maybe you need to find more of his type to move back home -
LOL - you're right. Don't get me wrong there are many NRA members here as hunting is good with a wide array of wildlife - but that wild life is in downstate Illinois while the "life forms" gunned down in Chicago are the 2 legged crime type. The political bosses want their own protection and security to be for them - not John Q. Public!Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time!

I too thought THE NRA; and then thought no way... But I am jealous either way. BUT what better events to go to... first to the hunt your food convention and then the eat your food convention!
-
I knew somethin was up cause Chicago and NRA don't g-haw.

Have fun. Your first trip will very eye opening. I started attending in the late 70's and have seen the show change since. If you go on Sat or Sun be ready for long lines where they are servng food and beverage. sharpen your elbows. Also if you can get invited to the private functions for the large companies GO, much better than the show. Big time entertainment. Also the restaurants in Chicago show off for the NRA crowd.
