Does anyone have any suggestions for "really good" BBQ cookbooks. I have several that are O.K., but I'd like a couple more if highly recommended.[p]I love Chile Pepper Magazine. It's an excellent BBQ related publication. And, BGE and BBQ Guru advertise in it. I just wish it came out 12 times / yr. instead of six.[p]Thanks

Cagmag,[p]I've been thrilled with Steven Raichlen's 'Barbecue! Bible' since I bought it several years ago (while using a gas Weber, long before I discovered the Egg). It appeals to me because of the broad diversity of tastes he presents, recipes from most parts of the BBQing world. My wife and I appreciate that, using this cookbood, we can approximate many of the dishes that we sampled when we lived and traveled in various parts of the world.[p]In addition, I think Raichlen explains steps well and presents work-arounds when specific ingredients may not be available (eg. I could purchase sour oranges, used in the maranade and for 'mojo' for Lechon Asado, when we lived in South Florida, but no stores near our current home in Illinois carry them).[p]I've had great success serving many dishes from this cookbook to friends and neighbors. However I'm also quite aware that these flavors are not for everyone. If you are adventuresome, give it a try. Just MHO.[p]I'm glad you posted your question. I'm very interested in seeing which cookbooks and mags others enjoy.[p]DD

Cagmag,[p]Drbbq's "Big-Time Barbecue Cookbook" is coming out in May.
Though I haven't seen the book, I've taken Ray's class, eaten his food and seen a few of his awards..... so ordering his book was a no-brainer.[p]You can order his book through Amazon using The BBQ Forum link. When you're on the BBQ Forum site, click on the Amazon icon in the upper left..... by doing so, you will help support Ray Basso's forum.... which is my second favorite forum on the net. :~)[p]I get two food magazines.... Sauveur and Cook's Illustrated. Though they're not bbq oriented, many of their recipes can be adapted to charcoal cooking.... and besides, they're plain good reading! [p]John[p][p]

  • DobieDad,
I agree with you that Steven Raichlen's 'Barbecue! Bible' is excellent, however I prefer his BBQ USA: 425 Fiery Recipes from All Across America book a little bit better. I have just recently picked up Paul Kirk's - Championship Barbecue: Barbecue Your Way to Greatness with 575 Lip-Smackin' Recipes from the Baron of Barbecue and Smoke & Spice: Cooking with Smoke, the Real Way to Barbecue by Cheryl Jamison, Bill Jamison. Both of these books from what I read and tried so far are really quite good and worth purchasing.
WooDoggies thanks for the heads up on Drbbq's "Big-Time Barbecue Cookbook" I just pre-ordered it from Amazon using the link you provided.
