Been putting my 8qt Dutch oven (filled with a load of stuff) directly on my placesetter in my LG BGE. Have I just been lucky or is the placesetter stong enough to hold all that weight under heat????? Just wondering................Paul

  • MidnightSmoker,
i had a roasting pan with 21 pound turkey sitting on mine for 7 hours at thanksgiving... .i don't think strength is a problem. .. .

    mad max beyond eggdome,
I concur. For the more faint-hearted, ceramic has great compression strength: if in doubt, put the grill on the platesetter - to spread the weight - and the pot on that.[p]Ken

    MidnightSmoker,
Well, you beat out Max's 21 lb. turkey. My 8 quart No.12 is 18# empty. With a full load of pork and beans my No.12 tops off at 27#. Depending what I'm cooking, could be more. Like stone soup....... He he he he. I'm keeping a cooking log and recording all this stuff between sips of beer.[p]Don't worry about the platesetter. Just load it up! One thing I have done is use platesetter inverted with grid with pizza stone on grid to support my oven. Weight is centered over legs of platesetter and nothing is going to happen.
What's ya cooking in the oven by the way?
