thanks to eggcellent advice, I purchased a food saver last week. having mucho fun and for once didn't try to eat everything that I cooked in one day. question, when boiling vacuum packs, how long before defrosted and warmed thru?[p]different subject, when cooking lots of wings, the coals flare up before I can turn everyone. anyway of preventing this?[p]thanks in advance...

  • tinman,[p]depends a lot on how much is in the bag. I took a frozen bag that had a good 4-5 pounds of shredded beef (enough to feed quite a few people), and even after 10-15 minutes of boiling, there was an innermost part that still was a tad frozen.[p]With smaller bags (enough meat for 3 people or so), 10 minutes or so of boiling seems to do the trick. I've never noticed any problem from overboiling; it doesn't seem to harm anything.
