These are extremely heavy-duty trivets made from angle iron. I’m in the process of designing a table to hold both my Large and Small, and this is my solution to prevent burning the table. There should be enough surface area and airflow to help dissipate the heat. Hope it works.

    Cagmag,
If you are planning to put this in direct contact with a wooden table with a Large Egg sitting on it, I have my doubts, sorry. The bottom can get very hot on a high temp cook, and with the metal being such a good conductor, I feel the surface temperature of the steel will be very hot under high temp cooks. I use a two inch thick paving stone under my large and small and never have had a problem, and they are a very simple and cheap solution.
I'm not trying to dog your design, but I do feel it will burn the wood eventually. Just my $.02, and I could be very wrong. :)[p]later,
    ChefRD.

    ChefRD,
i would agree' from my experiences with the egg, place two more angles under your trivet under the weld area to increase the air flow to act as legs and you should be fine
