Has anyone ever done crabcakes on the egg? I really want to try them an I have been looking for a good recipe for baked crabcakes and figured I can just cook the straight on the pizza stone. Let me know if you have ever tried it and how it turned out. Also one of my favorite places to get crabcakes serves them with this smoked tomato aoili(sp) and it is mind blowingly good, so I'm going to try to make a similar sauce if I can figure out what is in it.

  • I pre-heat some oil in a cast iron skillet and cook them the same way you do it on the stove.

Just had these at the Florida Sunshine Fest. They are to die for and were cooked in a cast iron pan with a little oil. Probable some pictures floating around from the fest.

Here is the recipe for the crabbiest crabcake: These are great and everyone loves them, because they taste of pure crabmeat, with no fillers.

    INGREDIENTS:
    1 lb lump crabmeat
1 Tbs capers or to taste
    2 Tbs chopped scallions
    2 Tbs white wine
cayenne pepper to taste, or tabasco
    Old Bay Seasoning to taste
    1-2 beaten egg whites
    2-3 Tbs flour

I made a mayonnaise sauce to dollop on top. I didn't measure but these were the ingredients:

    Sauce:
    mayo
    lemon juice
    white wine
    lots of fresh dill
    salt

    PROCEDURE:
1 Mix all gently and adjust seasonings. Cook in olive oil til very brown, approx 8 minutes per side, flipping just once.

  • johnl350, let me know what you come up with for the smoked tomatoe aioli. These crabcakes just need a little bit of sauce/aoili with them cause you don't want to cover up the taste of the crab.
