Does anyone have any ideas for making or buying accessories for the Small?[p]I like the platesetter and grill extender for my Large, but haven't found them for the Small.[p]Also, is there a cast iron cooking grate for the Small? Is cast iron worth dealing with the extra weight?[p]Thanks

Cagmag, I assume you are truly asking about the cooking grill and not the firebox grate - to my knowledge they are not made - so what I did was to buy a rectangular 13 x 16 cast iron grill and then cut a 13" diameter grill out of it using a saber saw. Took less than 1 hour work and was well worth the effort. Now when I egg steaks at 750 they have grill marks that make a gassey owner weep! Even burgers at a lower temp come out with the marks.

    Cagmag,
You can see several setups for the small egg on my website in the tips section, and some of the cooks in the cooks section use these different setups..HTH[p]Wess

  • Cagmag, there is no BGE small plate setter. BGE has a ceramic dish ,8 inch size (I think), that some use. I took a 13 inch diameter kiln shelf and cut out a plate setter which works well. I use kiln posts for "legs". For multi level cooking you can always order an extra small size grill. Again, I use kiln posts to elevate the second grill.

RRP,[p]Do you mind me asking where you found a 13 x 16 cast iron grate?[p]I've made a couple of calls to local grill stores in Dallas and can't find one.[p]Thanks a lot

Cagmag, The company is in Destin, FL - see below. They are only sold in pairs and went for $39. S & H was 7.25 so 46.25 total.[p]I just went looking at their web site but can't find the item, but it's their stock number 4152783-K and was called "Cooking Zone/Sierra Series cast Iron Cooking Grate Set". Give me a couple minutes and I'll email you my order number.

    <p />yo Cagmag
Here's the "grill" with the disc cut out. I thought you might want to see how I balanced it out. The grill itself is in use right. A saber saw did this quickly and then I hit the sharp edges with a grinder. Good luck! BTW the package is wrapped, addressed and ready to go.
PS who needs EBAY to match up buyers and sellers when eggers have this board! LOL
