Any BBQ judges out there?

Last year I took the KCBS judging class but never got to actually judge an event. There are only a couple KCBS events near me and they aren't even all that near. But the few they had were on dates I could not participate.
I just signed up for a PNWBA judging class. They have a lot more events in my area, so hopefully I can get to a few this year. The KCBS class was pretty fun (and I had the best bbq chicken I've ever eaten bar none), so I'm looking forward to the PNWBA one, which I assume will be very similar.
Just wondering if there are other eggheads on this forum who are judges.

I know Hoss and missipi egger are also KCBS judges

I didn't realize there were kids events. That would be fun! I'll have to look around for that.
One thing I was disappointed about that I learned in the KCBS class is that I can't 'fraternize' with the teams. I thought that being a judge would be a good way to meet new people and learn more about cooking. But if you can't talk to the cooks, then I guess that's not going to be a part of it. I can certainly understand the rationale; I had just never thought about it in that way. -
Any advice for me?

What advice are you looking for specifically?

You can after the judging is over and on Friday night before, but not the morning of.

I don't know since I've never judged! Just any tips you think might be important to pass on, anything you wish you'd known going in or things you've figured out over the years.
