Loren got this organic chicken, smaller is better?? decided to give it a try today...



Rubbed with EVOO, Richard's Indian River Pixie Dust,an International Blend of savory spices including Cayenne, Paprika, Salt, Dry Mustard, Garlic Powder, Chipotle Chili, Black Pepper & Sugar, Fired The Large up to 350*, direct except for the pyrex with Lea Perrins Worcestershire Sauce & water. Breast at 150* & thigh around 170* and not butt up :woohoo:



Served with Green Salad & Potatoes & Louisiana Wing Sauce



No hormones, no antibiotics It was quite good, actually tasted to me pretty much the same as any artificially fattened chick... :ohmy: what do you think?

Looks great to me Beli, I normally think that the organic chicken tastes better then the standard chicken, but of course cost is sometimes the deciding factor

Don't really know how much it costed but I was expecting as you say something better & I didn't taste it

Looks yummy! I have 2 whole organic chickens in brine now for grilling tonight. Might not taste a whole lot better but a whole lot better for you & we want to keep you around for a long time

Wow. Great looking chickens. I think the organic taste quite a bit better. You can really only get the whole organic chicken around here so I'm looking at different ways to do the whole bird.

I just picked up the beercan rack, but won't be using the beercan. Cut out the bottom and the remaining neckbone so the airflow through should be OK. I've not seen those double chickens in that orientation on these racks before...

I do think that there is a difference between chickens, as far as flavor goes, when we really are doing chicken flavor. Just a roast chicken with nothing but some salt and pepper Also I can see how badly bruised some are. But that can happen "on the farm" too.
I can buy three pretty good chickens here. A Gerber (not organic, but feed a vegetarian diet with out all the other ****), Gold & Plump (marketed as natural, what ever that may mean) and a free range, organic raised just down the road from me.
For the most part, I can not tell a difference between the Gerber and the Down the Road....Except that one is about $6 and the other $14.
And...After a rub down before a roast or a good flavorful sauce, I can't tell any of them apart.

I'm with you Beli,I try to buy "All Natural" chicken but the Organic craze just does not appeal to me.The food is no better tasting and probably no better for you.

I think I had a good Sangiovese that would have paired with that perfectly.Great cook Beli-by the way I tried your strawberry-mozzarella,basil with a great balsalmic glaze I found on our excursion I will post pcs tomorrow have a great week!

A while since I've tried italian wines probably is time to give them a try again, the organic Chicken was reasonably good only the ones we get here are rather small & not as juicy
