I just put whole chicken about 8.5 lb on at 250deg. About how long should it take at that temp? Thanks

Skychief,
I would run the temp up to 350. I think at the low 250, you may dry it out a little. At 350 with that size bird, it will take about 1 1/2 hours.

Skychief,[p]At that temp I would say that you are in the 20-30 minutes a pound range. I did an 8 pound turkey over Thanksgiving and if memory serves me it was about 3 1/2 - 4 hours. The skin on the chicken at those temps may turn a bit rubbery, not much to do about it. May try and kick up the temp. at the end to crisp it up a bit. Good luck. Smoked chicken is a family favorite here, try one with apple wood and the flavor is amazing.[p]Troy
