Is there a noticable difference in food when prepared using Orange(original)egg as appossed the Green egg?

Also, is it possible to drill a hole to insert a thermastat in the Orange egg w/o opening the lid?

food should taste the same with it except maybe high temp seared foods, i dont think the recommended really high searing temps with those. you might want to get a setup to get a steak down as close as possible to the lump were it will be hotter. you could get a maverick et732 to use as a gage, no drilling needed
