My Father-in-law picked up a bags of apple and cherry wood chunks at Lazarri Charcoal when he
was getting lump charcoal for me. I haven't smoked
much with those woods. What goes well with those
woods for smoking ?

Thanks. Gary

I use cherry wood chunks a lot.

In general, fruit woods like apple and cherry will add a darker color and tend to enhance the sweeter flavors in rubs.

I use a hickory/cherry combination for just about anything I smoke. Apple goes well with pork.

I use apple, cherry and hickory for everything. Here in Kentucky I pretty much have an unlimited supply on our farm. I like to use apple for chicken, cherry for my ribs and hickory for the pork butts. I have 8 Boston Butts on my smoker now (not the egg unfortunately) and I'm using a hickory/cherry combo. Going heavy with the hickory.

I agree stike, just about everything. I use less on poultry as I find it sucks up smoke like a Hoover and can get to smoky fast. I have yet to find a smoke wood I don't like and will mix almost anything. A mix of apple and cherry is very nice. Lately to use up odds and ends I have been mixing up apple, cherry and mesquite and it has been very good. I also love oak, maple and hickory.

cherry is my fav for chicken....it's kinda sweet and turns the chicken a nice dark red color.... if you use apple.... it tastes good but has a tendency to turn the skin a really dark color.... pecan is great on chicken.... other woods work well on red meats.... you have to try them out and see what you like...rr
