i searched and searched, but couldn't find the answer to this, although i'm sure i read it here.
isn't there some type of reaction that can happen with an aluminum can if you use them to do beer can chickens that may be dangerous?

Some say that if you consume toooo many of the beers you might forget the cooking bird and burn it.
-
Not sure about that, but I quit doing beer can chickens a while back. It's just too messy to use the stands and its aggravating to keep them standing sometimes without the stand. Can you taste a difference between a beer can chicken and a spatchcocked one? I can't. Just wondering. My pref has always been a spatchcocked bird on a raised grid at 450 to 500 dome.

Well....you want to make sure you use an open can.

Jason,
IMHO the beer can chicken was developed to keep the meat moist during cooking. I don't think there is a need for it on the egg. I have been doing inverted chickens on a vertical roaster with great results.

Steve,
I recall your inverted pictures, but do you leave them that way the full cook?

I don't recall coming across any such warnings when I was researching/testing BCC for my webpage. The Naked Whiz

There is no danger. There are lots of aluminum pots and pans.

Can be dangerous to your waistline if not done with caution!

This is how I do beer can chicken...

-
I will - in fact I'll be using Cornish Game Hens and for the sitter I'll use my ceramic Willie Chicken sitters. I just have to have a written note from you to show my wife that I was not tight from adult beverages and didn't know which end the bird's butt is located! :laugh:Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time

I agree......the chickens I have roasted on the egg come out really moist........... almost like they have been cooked in a water smoker, but tastier...
