He is the write up from our first offical comp as "Heavy P BBQ" Heath (Rolling Egg) and I competed in a shadetree competition here in Huntsville. We finished 10th overall with a 10th in ribs and 14th in chicken. It was the first of the year for the Bama BBQ Trail and had teams from 3 states, so were were pleased overall. We have 4 more planned for the year.

Great job Gene!

Bobby, we had a blast and had wished for at least one top 5, but there will be time for that. I am thankful for 4 sides on the BGE canopy. It was 34 outside and we had propane heaters inside and stayed at a cozy 58-60.
I learned a few more things to put in to place for the next one. Hope to see you at an academy class soon. -
looks fantastic!..... thanks! rr

Thanks Hoss, our next one is in Athens, AL in April.

I just got the final email from the contest organizer and we were 2nd in butts. It was a side entry and only paid 1st place so we didn't know until now.

Btw- Just read the score cards and found out we were 2nd in pork butts! I feel really good now!! -
Congrats on your combined effort and energy for hauling the eggs to a competition!

I said to my wife, 'Where do you want to go for our anniversary?' She said, 'I want to go somewhere I've never been before.' I said, 'Try the kitchen.'

Nice setup...Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Just given another Mini to add to the herd.

That looks fantastic! What was the contest in Huntsville? I signed up to judge at the Whistlestop contest, but that's not until May.

Gene, congratulations of your showings!

That is one sweet set up. Nice selection of eggs, plenty of shade, and a generator.
Good luck in your future competitions. -
You know second place is just first loser, right?
:P
Congrats to you and Rolling Egg. I don't have the stones to even try a competition. -
Nice job, Guys! Did you run up against any other egg teams?

Thanks Rebecca. Heath and I had a blast. I think Graham (smokyb) may join us for another one. If he doesn't I am going to slap a franchise label on him
