How long of a cook can you get out of 1 application of charcoal?

  • Chef Barney,
"1 application of charcoal" I think you need to be more specific since each of us loads up our eggs differently for different cooks, different set-ups and different egg sizes. There are a large number of variables here.[p]Let's just say if I fill my large up to the fire ring with BGE lump I can do low -N- slow (two 8 lb butts) for 22 to 24 hours without re-fueling (did I spell that right???) and still have lump left over. Now, if it is windy it changes things. If it is humid, it changes things. I do not cook with a BBQ Guru at this point. May get one in the future, but I'm still liking the idea of going au-natural managing the temp myself (egging for about 20 months now).[p]I'm trying to help you, but is not a "one size fits all" answer.
