Rumrunner, Just as I thought. Getting pretty good at identifying cuts-o-meat. Must be Egg lust. ;>}

Rumrunner,
Great ad for the Mini and one succulent hunk of meat.
I love my Mini for just what you have there. I can get two nive NY strips on Miss for my better half and I when I don't want to use the Big Guy. What did you rub it with? Anything?

Rumrunner,
Fine looking hunk you got there. [p]Fresh Market here in MGM carries aged Hereford. I've bought some NY Strips when they run weekend specials. I was curious if you had tried it. Pretty darn good stuff.[p]DrR

Dr_Redwine,
going to my butcher shop this morning also for aged Hereford New York strips. Only steak I'll eat now. Our price here is $14.99 which is about $6 more than chain grocery stores - but well worth the price IMHO. BTW what was your "special sale" price?
-
RRP,
$10.99/lb last night. Bought two big 'uns.

The one I cooked was bottom center.

Dr_Redwine, yes I've tried FM's Hereford Beef. Very good flavor with small marbling (its the nature of the beast). Saw them on sale this AM for $10.99, but I have a freezer full of strips and ribeyes that I need to work on before I buy any more Herefords

Rumrunner,

Sundown, I rubbed both sides with Dales Sauce and then a liberal sprinkly of my steak rub (1 pt Kosher, 1 pt granulated garlic, ½ pt black pepper and ½ pt turbinado sugar), vac packed for another ½ hour and then to the flame for approx 6 min a side.

Dr_Redwine, just got back and their price was down to $12.99

Rumrunner,
You re vac pack in the plastic? I've been told that the Food Saver 2 1/2 Qt. container is great for marinating and also to establish rubs in the meat. I've got to find some time to get over to the Target and get the container. I would think the container with the air sucked out would do the same thing as repackaging. Any thoughts?

Sundown, I've used both with success. I was lazy, the bag was there with my beer sitting beside, the cannister was across the room in the pantry.
