I am new to the egg, bought last summer. I have a question I hope you can help with. I bought a cover, had a metal table built for a space and the egg. Egg is in much the same as table at store, half above table half below. I put cover on last year bunched up and vent bunched up, retained mosture. Shouls I go with out cover, cut off excess and vent ???? Terry terry.tinnell@gmail.com Thank you

Eggs really do not need to be covered. They do seem to collect moisture in the ceramic when they are covered. I have covers for mine and seldom use them.
The table is a different matter, will it rust?
My tables are all wood and require a coat of varnish about every two years. No big deal.
Others will differ, but that is my 2cts.
Hope it helps. -
I agree that the egg itself would be fine without a cover. I do think a cover could extend the life of the table and reduce the amount of table maintenance. Maybe your metal table is made from stainless steel and is fairly maintenance free?

Vinyl covers don't breathe, they form condensation and tend to sweat. There is a guy that makes covers from Marine material ( Johnny's Covers) You can find him advertising on the naked whiz site.www.nakedwhiz.com
They aren't cheap but will last a life time.
