Dizzy Pig Spices? Suggestions?
I keep seeing people mentioning these spices, so I figure they are very good quality. I cannot find any in my town so online is the only way I can order them. Since I cannot "taste test" them, could I get some suggestions? I'm considering getting a box of five.[p]Here is what I do on the egg:[p]I have not smoked any butt -- or anything for that matter. Would like to some day but have not tried it.[p]I grill most everything, tenderloin (pork and beef), chicken breast, fish (sometimes), vegetables and an occasional hamburger. I am going to try the smashed chicken soon.[p]Thanks, I know flavor is personal but I would like to know what spice you like.

OrangeBeachReb,
Cowlick for the beef, raging river for salmon and other fish (though try it on other meats as well), dizzydust for chicken and pork. I also like tsunami spin on chicken wings, and Jamaican firewalk when I am looking for a bit of heat. [p]Great stuff. [p]Brett

OrangeBeachReb,[p]I'm not gonna go on too much here because I am sure you're going to get quite a lot of feedback. My first question would be "do you like spicy food?" Dizzy pig has some seasonings for the heat-adventurer and for the delicate palated like myself. [p]That said, the ones that we use the most are Tsunami Spin (especially on pork and chicken, Raging River (on everything from fish to chicken to eggs and pork) and dizzy pig cow lick steak rub. We also use the Red Eye Express.[p]While I am sure you will be satisfied with whatever you buy, you could try the sampler pack which gives you 3-4 tsps of each of the 8 flavors, and then you could decide from there. [p]Of course, the easiest way to do it is to cowboy up and buy the eight pack, and that way you'll be good to go.[p]HTH[p]

OrangeBeachReb,[p]FIREWALK! Awesome stuff. COW LICK! Can't cook without it.
DIZZY DUST! T-a-s-t-y.
Each seems to have it's own unique flavor. I can see where my money will be going when it comes to rubs from now on.
Take my word for it, you will not be dissapointed.
Have I ever lied to you before? ;>)

OrangeBeachReb,[p]I would suggest that dizzypig sell their stuff in bigger bottles. I find that I may have to move to Nature Boy's neighborhood as often as I seem to be ordering.[p]LOL[p](speaking of which, I'm getting a little short again, Chris. You'll be getting a web-order soon enough).

OrangeBeachReb,
I use Cow Lick for beef, Ragin River for salmon, pork chops, ribs or chicken, Dizzy Dust for pork butts, Tsunami Spin or Jamaican Firewalk for anything you want a little hotter. You won't go wrong ordering any or all of them. I usually order a mixed case of 12 or 24. It seems that I have a lot of Egg friends show up right after I order. I must have started about 10 friends on the stuff too. Go big. See-Yaa

LoveHandles,[p]That's what happens to us. Right after we order, someone comes over and, after tasting it, wants to "try" it, which means taking a bottle of mine home with them. [p]What I ought to do is buy a few sample sets and give them taster packets.

What Mark Backer said.[p]Get one of each in the 8-pack. You won't be sorry.[p]BOB

Mark Backer,[p]I used to have trouble with all the empty bottles stacking up and taking up space. (couldn't toss them out for some reason)[p]When friends "need" a sample, just put a little bit in an empty and let them take that instead of your new one. Solves 2 problems. Just make sure that they can still read the website on the label so that they can send in an order for themselves.[p]BOB

BobinFla,[p]Dude, that's a really good idea. I hadn't even considered that one. [p]Thanks alot.

OrangeBeachReb,[p]on weekends I sell a few items smoked with dizzy pig rubs at a local supermarket. Here's what i've noticed. when I bring in salmon rubbed with the ragin' river rub it sells out in minutes (4 full sides in 30 minutes). When I bring in 40 pounds of chicken wings rubbed with Tsnumani spin they sell out in 3 hours. No, I haven't been drinking and I didn't make this stuff up.

OrangeBeachReb,
i'm here to tell you. ..the red eye express is the 'sleeper' in this fine line of rubs. . .i bought a jar initially but never used it. ..then one day, when i went to get some cow lick from cupboard and found i was out, i used red-eye express instead (on a big hunk of roast beef).. .it was FANTASTIC. ..i've now used it on steaks and pork tenderloins and its great stuff!! . .last order i placed with chris i bought equal amounts of red eye and cow lick. . . .

mad max beyond eggdome,
I with you on this - I like the Red Eye Express myself. I'll mix it 1/3 to 1/3 cow lick and 1/3 turbinado sugar and do brisket and it turns out great. I also like it on them thick pork chops. Yum... Joe

OrangeBeachReb,
I have not read any of the previous recommendations so excuse me if I duplicate...[p]Flavor is a personal thing. I am not one for spicy hot food and am therefore bias towrd the more mild spices.[p]I too struggled with 'which 5 to buy' when I first considered a purchase. E-mail NatureBoy and he may even offer a sample of the different rubs along with your first order of 5.[p]After sampling all of the Dizzy Pig lineup, I have settled on Tsunami Spin, Raging River Rub and Dizzy Dust. For me, the cow lick is too black pepper spicy and I if I want the extra pepper spice, I can add it to the dizzy dust.[p]As for me, and again this is personal, I have limited myself to the 3 rubs above. These 3 are not too heat spicy compared to other offerings. They also will blend well with any cook (pork, chicken, turkey, fish, steak, burgers, ribs, veggies, etc)[p]I hope this helps. Banker John

OrangeBeachReb,[p]Here's my favorite 5 pack and their regular uses.[p]Dizzy Dust on Ribs & Pork Butts
Jamaican Firewalk for ABT's and Chili
Tsunami Spin on Wings & Oyster Mushrooms
Ragin River on Salmon
Swamp Venome on smoked almonds.[p]They all go very well with a cold PBR too.[p]Cheers,[p]GrillMeister
