I crack myself up every time at this point. I really hope I'm the only person on this forum with this 'issue'. :woohoo:

When my wife and I are throwing any kind of party, or casual cookout with friends and family....I always seem to be up preping food late.

We're not really even having an official SB Party, but since 7pm I've already...

-Made 5 batches of Pizza dough (some to freeze)
-Made Sauce and cut some toppings for the pizzas
-Deviled Eggs (last minute thought 2nite at 10:30)
-Put wings in brine for overnight soak
-Cored Jalapenos and mixed cheese for ABTs (gonna go wrap them right now)
-Peeled and cut carrots and celery for wings
-Cut veggies for dippin'
-Made 2 sour cream based dips (easy and uncreative, I know)

In addition to a bunch of other little stuff, AND....

Still managed to find room for a few Capt. and Diets! B)

All joking aside, I get stressed out when I do stuff on 'day of', and have found that being a nite owl is my best way to go. I like to concentrate on cooking on the day of....and taking a nap as well after nights like these.

    The only bad part is...

    When my wife realizes how much food we've got, she'll be pissed we didn't invite friends. I have a reputation around here to 'over do it' on occasion when it comes to cooking. Ie. I cant make a soup without making enough for the neighborhood. :blush:

    I always figure the leftovers make great lunches at work. :whistle:

    I've got 2 pork butts on the BGE for dinner tomorrow and freezing for later use. Planning to do some ABTs as well, though I won't start prep on those until tomorrow afternoon. Just waiting to verify that my temp is stabilized and then I'm calling it a night... at least for a little while.
  • We are all either crazy or good hosts. Yup I am one of them. Up prepping Baby Backs, a couple butts and some ABT's. Actually carrying a BGE over to the in-laws and the Weber Smokey Mountain 22". Getting all the rubs, racks, etc. ready for a good time of a GREAT game and
    Grillin & Chillin!

    Midnight in KC... Two slabs of spare ribs in vacuum bags in 140° water... will stay there until they go on the egg tomorrow afternoon.

    I'm feeling your pain.I got Turkey and brats and Tons of stuff in the fridge.Steady thinkin bout what to cook tomorrow!!! B)

    You are not alone... :laugh:

    2 butts on the Egg as I type, 3 slabs of ribs going on at noon tomorrow. 20 pounds of chicken wings marinating and getting happy...

    So far today...
    5 lbs of cole slaw
    8 lbs of beef cut and marinating for terriaki skewers
    5 dozen stuffed mushrooms ready to bake
    Gator nuggets in jerk marinade for skewers
    60 jumbo shrimp thawed and skewered for the grill
    Two sheets of mozzarella stuffed and rolled
    Hummus & Tabouleh made, along with home made pita chips
    Shrimp dip, spinach dip, and onion dip ready
    Romaine prepped for the grill

    And just about to start cutting veggies for the veggie tray... :blink: I am tired! Is the game over yet?? :huh: :laugh:

    Oh yeah, the brownies just came out of the oven... :blush: And I am sure I am forgetting some stuff... :laugh:

    I have 2 butts on the egg right now. It's my first overnight so I am up watching the temp. Just paranoid. To kill the time I am prepping some ABTs.

  • You people are nuts. I am going to a party and havent even started food prep yet. I got up to take some tylenol and look on here and now I feel like a slacker cause I am not stressing about the food. !!!!!
    Happily egging on my original large BGE since 1996... now the owner of 6 eggs. Call me crazy, everyone else does!

  • Nope. I'm going simple and small this year - just burgers and brats for a few friends. Wanted a huge party, but too much going on for that this year.
  • Made 4 dozen Pgh pierogi yesterday and am getting ready to start my Fattie Wellington.

    It's just my wife,kid and me so only a couple of Londond Broils with some wings on the Egg. Oh yeah and beeeeeeer!!!!
