iGrill at MacWorld

Mixing the best of both worlds. Macs and BBQ accessories. I saw the iGrill at the SF MacWorld Expo. For the Egger with everything. Will be out next month they said (yeah right) for about one hundred bucks. It uses bluetooth technology to send the Eggs internal temperature to your iPhone. What could be better? hummm...

That's awesome. Hopefully it is good quality equipment.
-
I'm pretty sure it's been out for a couple months. Supposed to be decent
-
If it's only using bluetooth to send the signal, then don't you have to be within 30 feet of the transmitter?BJ (Powhatan, VA)

Cool 'toy', but even for a MacAddict like myself, I think it is not enough bang for the buck!
One temp, short transmit distance, and has anyone ever gotten Bluetooth to be consistent and reliable?
I'll stick with my Mavericks! -
Yea didn't think about that, 30 ft is about the limit at least that I've seen. Looks like the new maverick would be a more useful and cheaper option.

They claim 200 foot+ range, alarm settings, iPad & iPod Touch compatible and multi probe capacity. The beauty of this is that they will be able to offer more features with software upgrades to the App. If I sound like a salesman; I'm not! I'm trying to convince myself that I need one more gadget for my BGE and/or iPod Touch.

I am firing up my Egg now for a long cook and I can't beat the Stoker for my long slow cooks
When I am out this afternoon and tonight, I can check the temps on either my phone or iPad -
So it is working through your home wifi and then uploading to the internet so you can check from anywhere? If that is the case it would very useful assuming the quality of the thermometer are good.

I got one for Christmas and it works pretty good. It allows a lot more distance than my Maverick did. I couple this along with Digi and I don't have to worry about anything.
The graphics aren't great, but the temp and alarms work great.
I would definitely drop $100 on this again./ -
I have had the Stoker a little over 2 years and no problem with the temp gauges....On my cook today, I will be using a pit probe and 2 meat probes. One meat probe for one of the Butts and the other for the brisket

I have a bunch of Apple products but I gotta agree with whoever upthread said that this is not enough bang for the buck.Egging on two larges + 36" Blackstone griddle

We had the iGrill in the Apple store a little while back and I was looking at it. Had my hands on it and was thinking this would be awesome for the Egg. Pondered on it, then it vanished from inventory. I think iGrill wanted to make a big debut so they pulled them till CES and MacWorld. Not 100% sure though, but I think I'm going to pick one up.
