I picked up a nice piece of Grouper today and need some ideas on how to cook it. I've never cooked Grouper on the Egg. The fire is lit and the Grouper is coming to room temperature. Spring Hen just put some lemon juice on it (she doesn't know why other than what her mother told her to put lemon juice on all fish). [p]Any ideas would be appreciated.[p]Spring Chicken

  • Spring Chicken,
I like Cajun seasoning on Gulf fish. I'd go on a raised grid at about 375-400 direct. Brush the fish with a little olive oil prior to seasoning. Since I haven't done any on the egg, I'd just check it every few minutes and flip it once. The Raging River was awesome on salmon, but I haven't tried it on any other fish yet. HTH.

    Spring Chicken,
I have yet to do fish on the egg but I've had these grouper recipes bookmarked for a long time. Just waiting to try one.[p]http://www.coastaloutdoors.com/recipes/grouper.htm

  • Spring Chicken,
Thanks guys. I already cooked it by the time I saw your posts. I added some Cajun seasoning (no oil) then I cooked it direct at 350° for a few minutes, turned it over and did the other side. Wasn't done so I kicked it up a notch to 450° and brought the internal temp up to about 155°. I didn't particularly like it. No flavor. I'm thinking I will try some other way next time.[p]Thanks again.[p]Spring Chicken

Spring Chicken,[p]I know it is to late, but basic salt/pepper butter is great. What to add a little more flavor, sprinkle on a little Raging River.[p]I haven't had fresh grouper since H. Ivan, my supplier lost his vaction home.[p]CWM

Spring Chicken,[p]Grouper is a VERY mild fish, which is probably why I like it! LOL I'm not sure about cooking it on the egg though. My favorite is dredged in corn flakes and fried. I don't have a recipe, only had it in a restaurant that way.
