Green Eggs and Ham Eggfest in Athens Texas

First time to see this banner.
Looks like a fun place for an Eggfest.
Have no idea who the host dealer is.
Kind of a hard sell to run against the "OKC" on the same weekend.

I agree. If someone is going to organize a fest they really need to start working on it 'last year.' Not many available weekends to start with and most experienced Eggheads already know where they are going.
The Texas Eggfest date has not been announced or even discussed to my knowledge. If they pick anytime around the end of April we can't be there. We'll be in Hawaii.
Maybe next year in Athens. We're already booked at the hotel in OKC this year.
See you in Salado.

After OKC we are done for a while.
We know this is an important year for Chris and we wanted to be there. We hope to see a few other Eggers that we missed last year as well.
I would take Hawaii over Austin any day. :laugh:Thank you,DarianGalveston Texas -
Called the number and it is the Texas Freashwater Fishery Center.
Well duh....... I guess it said that in the banner as wellSalado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Just given a Mini to add to the herd. -
This is the first 3 day fest I've ever heard of, I think that's pushing it. -RP

I ask a lady that answered a phone and can't find any eggheads behind it.Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Just given a Mini to add to the herd.

That's all I saw as well but they can't be a dealer?
That's just the location of the event?
Who knows?Thank you,DarianGalveston Texas -
Would be nice if BGE or the distributing BGE company would qualify the dealers before they are allowed to "host".
I know last year an Eggfest fell through after asking for and getting many door prize items for their event.
They never bothered to send them back or even say sorry, we are keeping your donated items.
I bet the sponsors won't make that mistake again but it hurts every other new fest trying to get started.Thank you,DarianGalveston Texas -
I'm supposed to pick up two Ehggs on Monday for giveaways at my landscape managers conference. I'll try to pin him down.

Darian if the "banner" is up it must have the backing of the distributor (Paragon in area states). BGE would not put up my banner on the forum for the Salado Egghead Gathering till they got an ok from Paragon (I had talked with and got an ok from also).Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Just given a Mini to add to the herd.

Then you would think they would provide "some" information on who the mystery group hosting the event might be and a contact name. You had structure in place.Thank you,DarianGalveston Texas

It's a mind boggling thing. It's strange how a banner will go up for a "fest" and it ends up being a demo cook at a dealership.

This is Allen Forshage (4Soggy), Director of the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center. I'm an Egghead and have been for 5 years now. In fact, I built my entire outdoor kitchen around my Egg. The goal of the fisheries center is to get people outdoors and we have numerous events year 'round that try to get adults and kids enjoying the outdoor world. I felt that an Eggfest would be a great way to show people 1) what a great product the Egg is while 2) enjoying everything we have to offer at TFFC. No, we're not a dealer and don't want to try to make any money on this event, but we do want to make it a big Texas event. The Friends of the Fisheries Center are serving as the hosts of the event and we're coordinating the Eggs through Paragon Distributing. Morrison Supply in Lufkin is also involved. The Eggs will be set up in a high-traffic location of the facility, with close access to a full catering kitchen, ice, refrigerators, freezers, and running water - all being made available to participants at no cost. We also are setting up demonstration areas to teach people how to cook with an Egg. We hope to have vendors that will bring additional supplies, etc. We had no prior knowledge of the OKC event. However, we still would like to give it a try and will continue with ours. I really hope that a few of you will be able to come. Finally, any money that is generated by vendors will be donated to the Athens Public Education Foundation. I'd like to meet you, shake your hand, and swap Egg stories. We just want to have fun. Hope you do as well.

Is your event too far in the planning to move out 1 weekend? There is a huge group of us that have already committed to OKC, but I would love to come to your event. If there's any chance of moving it out a week, you can count me in!
This is a great idea, we need more fests in Texas! -
Hey, eggers,
read the first post and you will see that the guy at the Center is an egghead and is one of us in spirit.
Also, it does have Paragon's blessing and one of the sponsors is Morrison Supply of Lufkin. Morrison Supply in Kilgore is where I bought 3 eggs (medium for me and my father and later traded back the medium I had for a large and they treated me more than right) All three eggs cost me much, much less than I hear your guys talk about and my large was much less than you guys brag about at demos at eggfests. If you are in East Texas or North Louisiana, I highly recommend Morrison's for service and good prices.
I think the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center will be a great hit especially for neweggers and the general public who come to just see the Center that weekenG. I don't think he wants to put on a big time show and cook, just acquaint the general population to what egging is all about.
The Center is worth the trip even if no egging.
Fantastic place and the aquarium is huge. Go at feeding time. A diver goes into tank with world class bass and other fish. Worth a weekend trip just for hte center, it is one of the showplaces of Texas. -
Read my post just above in reply to AZRP's post. I should have posted it as a new post under the original one
