what is the going price and are they difficult to come by? The rumor a couple years ago was that they ceased production.

RRP, still around, but no one likes them except us BGE users.Great for steaks. Coals are close to the grid, a searing machine. Dealers hate them.No dealers carry them....Some dealers will refuse to even order them. They are GREAT cookers, just small. Going price is $150 to $200, base price, depending on what comes with it...base price means nothing comes with it. The old hinge (several old styles around) is not very good...the best BGE hinge is one arm....that new hinge is extra...New mini daisy top is also extra...Stand is around $30 extra also ....and the mini rolls like a basketball(sort of looks like one,eh) if you do not have a stand to hold it...Want to see your mini, its food,( some nice thick steaks), and 800 degrees of burning charcoal rolling around your deck... yep, you need a stand.... In short, get a small egg for a few more $$$ and you can do pretty much everything the mini does and a lot more, plus it will not roll like a basketball and pour out burning charcoal...did I mention the danger of burning charcoal on your wooden deck.....

tn slagamater,
I already own a small, medium and a large - the only reason I was asking about a mini was for sake of taking along on trips. With my small and the cast iron grill that I cut from a rectangle it "is" the perfect steak cooker in my book and I do have it in my table along with the large. I can understand the reluctance of a dealer because to the unknowing that price sounds like a blatant rip off. I remember the first time I saw a mini - it was sitting on the dealer's counter right next to a Salvation Army Red Kettle which was as large as the mini. At that time I already owned my large and I thought the dealer was joking when he shot me the price!

RRP, I got mine for $119...but that's another story
[p]I use the Mini a couple times a week. If you are only cooking one or two pieces of meat (steaks, chops, chix breast, burgers dogs, etc) this lil baby is made for it. Gets up to searing temps in about 10 minutes. I wouldn't bother to use it for low and slow cooking, but I did warm up some previously cooked Mojo Pork using a ½ firebrick and a very small aluminum pan. After cooking, I removed the charcoal and ashes, left it open to cool, and was able to pick it up and put it back in the SUV after two hours. Try that with another size ceramic

RRP,[p]Buy a mini for travel and you'll end up using it at the house probably as much if not more than your larger Eggs. Believe me. It's worth it.[p]TRex

RRP,[p]The mini is worth it. You'll surprise yourself on just how often you'll end up using it; even with your current arsenal.[p]Puj
