I bought the Costco butts today. When I brought them home they were de-boned? They kinda fell apart. I tied it together and rubbed it down, I guess my question is, do I do anything different since it has no bone and is cut all up????

  • ShortRib,
I know the same thing happened to me and I was disapointed when I saw that. Your idea of tying it up is good one, I made mine without tying and some of the thinner ends came out too well done. Next time, I'll ask the butcher if he's got some that he didnt' debone yet.[p]Bob

    ShortRib,
Same thing here. Just bought them tonight. Took them out of the package and I wondered about that and whether those portions would be done a lot sooner, thus being overcooked. I also thought about tying them as well.[p]Any other expert advice out there?

ShortRib,[p]I had the same problem last time I bought a butt from Costco (it was the last time). I pretty much cooked it the same way and just managed to keep the pieces together without any string. They came out fine.[p]I now only buy bone-in butts as I don't want the inside exposed to anything. It just leave more ways for it to go bad.[p]I'm sure it will cook out fine for you just as mine did.[p]Cheers,[p]GrillMeister

    WVU-Egg,
Thought I would let you know that I graduated WVU class of '97. Couple other eggers out there from WVU too. (ie. Wardster and Noonie)

    ShortRib,
Class of 86 here! Maybe there needs to be a WVU Eggfest soon. Make it at a WVU football game though.

WVU-Egg,[p]Yeah, my two buds went to the Gator bowl last year and egged it up all weekend. I think the food was better than the game!
