some recent cooks and a question

Hey Gang. Here's some recent cooks we've had. .. There's a sink full of dirty dishes, a fussy 11 month old, and a pregnant wife who just woke up and is not happy that I am on the computer this AM... :( . So i'll make this as quick as i can before i get in too much trouble!
I did another DO chicken and rice. I really like this dish. Basically sear some chicken in DO, saute some onion, garlic and mushrooms, then put in rice mixture. Continue to cook until rice is finished.

This is a pork loin and roasted red potatoes. Impressed with the pork but it was a tad overcooked. I had et-73 probe and should have put the probe in further. But it was still good. I love the roasted red potatoes!

So next is a quick meal we ate while watching the playoffs. These are pizza puffs. I beleive the recipe is from Rachel Ray. Wife made them. THEY ARE FANTASTIC. It's very quick to make, and you bake them in a muffin pan. These were made in the oven but can easily be made in egg. Wings were off the egg. We've made the puffs twice already. Again, they are fantastic. You have to try them.

Here's a spatchcock with baked potatoes. I will NOT cook a baked potato under a chicken again.
The skin was icky. I thought I was being so smart by cooking the chicken over the potato. Oh well. This is how we learn I guess.
The potato was good, just the skin was not. Or perhaps wrap tater in foil?

WHEW!! That was alot of pics! So here's the question. Our stove is one of those I guess flat-top electric stove. Somehow we've burned our marred or stained the surface. Has anyone else done this or know how to clean it? I've tried scrubbing, all sorts of cleaners, nothing has worked. Not sure what we did, but it wasn't like that when we first moved in.

clean burner..

this just will not come off!
Well, sorry for such a long post! Thanks for looking! Gotta go!

Great looking cooks!!!!
On the topic of the stove top....
We use cerama brite and a razor blade held at an angle to scrape it clean. -
I have had good luck with a single edged razor blade. It scrapes almost anything off the surface and if you hold the blade at about a 45 degree angle to the glass you won't scratch it up. Give that a shot. Nice pictures BTW!Watkinsville, Ga XL, Medium

Awesome cooking with the egg! Chicken and rice is comfort food, perfect for the winter time and now I'm inspired. Thanks for sharing!
Sorry- can't help with the glass cooktop issue.
Good luck. -
Great cooks, looks like you have been cranking them out!
No idea about the range top, ours is cast iron/gas. I'd be careful using any abrasives though.Knoxville, TN
Nibble Me This -
Great, thanks! I'll try that. I'm assuming you can get cerama brite at a grocery store?

Thank you sir! wkygriller recommended the same thing. I will definately try the razor blade technique!
-
Those are some fantastic looking cooks, I use a razor blade to get off almost all of any crud (only seems to generate when I cook) and then finish with a Scotch Brite cleaning pad designed for glass tops.Dave San Jose, CA The Duke of Loney

I spray with an oven cleaner, leave on 20-30 minutes them damp rag. Sometimes have to do 2-3 times if the spots are very badly burnt on. NO abrasive, it will in time make you want a new top.
-
Thanks! Yeah, i was basically just looking for a dish so i can use my dutch oven. It turned out quite well.
-
Great pics.
Use barkeepers friend or Bon Ami. And only a little water, enough to make a heavy paste

Thanks Chris. The wings were your 30/20/10 method. Love your blog. My wife won't let me cook wings any other way. They are fantastic.
-
Thanks Molly. I wish i could post a little bit more regular but it's hard to find the time...
-
Thanks Dave. You are the 3rd person to recommend the razor blade trick. I will definately be trying it out!
-
Thanks Richard. Quite a few people have recommended a razor blade. Hopefully i'll finally be able to get rid of that damn stain!
-
Thanks Jeff. Can you get those at grocery store?
-
Good looking cooks. I especially like the DO rice and chicken idea. Good luck with the stove top and let us know.
-
We had one of those at one time and I had the same problem. I tried everything and could never get one of the burners cleaned. Good luck.
-
Chicken and rice looks so good
Gotta get that closer to the top of the
"to do" list
We have a small mark on our stovetop
That is were we put the kettle

Great looking food there. Thanks for the post!
11 month old AND she's pregnant..... atta boy! -
You have been busy. It all looks so good. I love the way your chicken and rice came out.
Is there anyway you can ask your wife for the Pizza Puff recipe, or the link to it? I searched on the food network site, but could not find it.Happily egging on my original large BGE since 1996... now the owner of 5 eggs. Call me crazy, everyone else does!

My grocery store stopped carrying BKF. Bed, Bath and Beyond has it though, and most other grocers. DO NOT buy Bon Ami thinking it's the same thing. It sucks!
Barkeeper's Friend is awesome stuff. Though I wouldn't have thought to use it on that type of stovetop. If I had that type of stovetop.
I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

Richard is absolutely right. Had one when we lived in Texas and ALMOST had to buy a new one before I was saved from myself by making another couple of phone calls. Also, Id never have a black one again.
-
hey Faith. Sorry i didn't get back to you sooner, but the link that bobbyb posted is correct. My wife used a regular 12 cup muffin pan instead of mini. Good luck!
-
Thanks! I did get alot of good ideas on cleaning the stovetop. Hopefully i can finally get rid of the stain!
-
Yeah, my wife swears it was like that when we moved in... Um.. BS. it's something we definately did. hopefully we can get it cleaned...
-
