A couple of weeks ago Fred (Fred's music and BBQ) talked about home made soft pretzels. Had some extra time on my hands and gave it a try. All I have to say is THANKS FRED!!! Almost forgot about cooking dinner :woohoo:

I have an old south philly recipe my mom got years ago. Your pics remind me I need to dig it out. They really come out good on the egg.

Share the recipe when you find it please. I would like to find a recipe that mimics the soft Philly pretzels I have had.

The newest issue of Food Network Magazine has several variations of soft pretzels. Apparently that's what got Guy Fieri on his road to cooking fame. Haven't yet made them myself but it's on the list!! Those look really tasty!

does it use red devil drano, drano makes the best pretzels :laugh: they make food quality drano now :blink: :laugh: :laugh:

No draino :laugh: but I do remember you didn't have to do the baking soda boil. It was a recipe she clipped out of a philly paper back in the 60's,, might have to make a bunch for the big game,,, if I can find it :ohmy:

It is a recipe from Alton Brown. Very simple, yet was one of the best soft pretzels (or maybe more than one) I have ever had. Next time I will try them on the egg.Wanted to make sure I had the mix/rise/roll right before I tried them on the egg.

Did the baking soda boil this time. Passed on the draino , but might consider it the next time my daughter shows up with a "stray tom" from school for the weekend
