Tip for hottubbing

AZRP
Posts: 10,116
I used to hottub my meat in the sink and had to constantly monitor the water temp, adding hot water as necessary. I decided to try a small cooler instead and this held the water temp within 2° for an hour. -RP

i think you answered your own question with the last word of your reply. as in: "he is. you aren't"
(is there anyone like me who just tosses the dang thing in a bowl of hot water and doesn't fuss with the temps and time and laboratory-grade fastidiousness? )ed egli avea del cul fatto trombetta -Dante -
Absolutely there is someone like you. I throw it in a bowl of hot water in the sink and come back when I'm ready. Hasn't failed yet.

If you have one of those Omaha Steaks styrofoam coolers, I'll bet it would beat a standard cooler hands down!! One of these days, I might actually try hot tubbing!
I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

accolades to you Randy, but actually someone else had posted that suggestion last fall, though I don't recall who - I know I followed it with success back then. In fact here's a thread I posted Nov 14 of a hot tubbing cook I made 11-12 using the cooler.
