Was hanging out at my local BBQ store looking for new gadgets for my Egg. I wound up getting a stir fry basket and a v-rack (had to come out of there with something). What, if any, advantages are there to using a v-rack and drip pan as opposed to putting meat directly on grill with drip pan?
Thanks.

  • jake42,
Well, the obvious answer for using the V-rack and drip pan is to keep the meat out of the grease and the grease out of the firebox. But I think you'll use it more often, or at least that's how I use mine, inverted to hold up racks of ribs. That way you can get more ribs on the grill than if they were lying flat.[p]Kelly Keefe

    Kelly Keefe,
That's exactly what I was thinking. Right now I just use the inverted platesetter, with drip pan on top of it, and the grate over the drip pan. Have had great success that way. Just couldn't walk out of that store without something.
I am going to be doing a shoulder this weekend. I think I will continue doing it the old way.[p]Thanks
