Plate setter question? How to Clean?

Unknown
edited November -0001 in EggHead Forum
Now that my plate setter is black, can I put it through the dish washer to get the soot and all off of it or what should I use? Thanks in advance. for now on I will wrap with aluminum foil.

David in Spring Hill Fla,[p]No no no no!!! Don't put any of that ceramic stuff in the dishwasher. You may wipe it with a warm damp cloth (no soap) once in a while, but that's it. [p]The fact that it's black like the inside of your egg just means you love it and use it often.

David in Spring Hill Fla,[p]I echo Mark Backer's advice - don't put it in the dishwasher. Being porous, soap will get into the pores of the platesetter and you will NOT be able to get it out (most likely). Some people clean it by raising the temp in the egg, sorta like a self-cleaning oven. I did it once on my pizza stone but now I've gotten over not having it pristine.

David,[p]I just picked up a plate setter last weekend and it is really bothering me that it is still clean... I plan to get it dirty this weekend. ;)[p]

David in Spring Hill Fla,[p]Instead of thinking of it as "black," think of it as "seasoned." [p]:-)[p]TRex
  • SeanB,[p]Same here. Just got back from the Grill Outlet Store with a brand new plate setter. I am off Monday and plan on it being a pizza day (if I can hold out till Monday!!!!)
